During his early career Daniel worked at A.P.P.L.E art block for around 8 years. His role grew during this time involving more responsibilities. He began as youth worker assisting and supervising projects. He then worked directly with schools, teaching children of different ages and backgrounds artistic skills. He then advanced to running his own projects and courses, teaching and developing students' skills, the most recent of which was a Trinity Arts accredited course, where all of his students progressed to gaining their gold award.

Later he started an early form of The Animation Experience, where he tutored different students with different abilities and aims in animation. He was able to develop tailored programs for his individual students which suited their needs and ambitions. Daniel has worked with a variety of students, including those with learning difficulties. He was able to build a rapport with the students and to build their confidence, bringing out the best of their abilities and unlocking skills they never thought they had.

Daniel Shirley is a graduate from Middlesex University, with a BA in Animation. During his years at university he worked on three major short films, and completed freelance animation work for various companies.

ABOUT DANIEL P SHIRLEY

Daniel worked as an animation and illustration lecturer at Huanghuai University, China. He had to develop courses that would stimulate the minds of university students and help them fulfill their potential. The students he taught spoke very minimal English (some none at all), so Daniel had to break the language barrier and find intuitive ways to communicate with his students.
